The first Macado’s restaurant was opened in 1978 by Richard Macher in downtown Roanoke, Virginia. It soon became popular for its eclectic ambiance of cartoon, antique, and local nostalgic decor, as well as its wide array of hearty yet modestly-priced sandwiches, subs, and entrees. DONT EAT HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO SWEAT THROUGHOUT YOUR WHOLE MEAL!!!!!! Macados has always been one of my favorite places, but this past summer it’s been horrendous. Each time i’ve visited this summer it feels like it’s almost 90 degrees in there. I got sat in the room near the patio this time. Food was delicious. The service was great. Our waiter did a great job. The decor was so unique and fun. The only negative I would say is that the place is showing its age. We looked up and the wall paper was falling off the walls. The bathrooms were clean but very worn out. Overall, I would visit again but the place definitely needs a face lift.
Truly a Roanoke classic great bar atmosphere! Awesome staff!!
