About this business
The first Macado’s restaurant was opened in 1978 by Richard Macher in downtown Roanoke, Virginia. It soon became popular for its eclectic ambiance of cartoon, antique, and local nostalgic decor, as well as its wide array of hearty yet modestly-priced sandwiches, subs, and entrees. Atmosphere nice but waitress literally asked us why we were there when we walked in. Tea was bad, too.
I had the spicy potato skin appetizer, and had I'd realized it'd had so much red onion in it, I would've requested something different. I wish there were red pepper flakes or Sriracha sauce.. Otherwise, the hostess and server were so sweet and attentive. It was a slow afternoon, but I enjoyed meeting my best friend on his lunch break while we caught up. I wish they'd had a homemade lemonade.
