First, they refused service to my friend because her ID was in Spanish (even though she had her passport with her). Then refused service to the rest of the group that walked in with her for trying to stand up for her. It is harvest in the valley and there are internationals in the bar on a daily basis, there should be more grace from the bartenders. I was able to get a drink as a walked in after them. Had a very disappointing experience at Lumpy’s last night. I was there with a group of friends, and while we were ordering, a bald male server checked our IDs. One of the IDs was a Spanish ID, and instead of politely asking for clarification, he said, “What the FK is this? I can’t read it,” and became visibly angry and rude toward us. I calmly told him that there was no need to speak to us that way. He then became even louder and told me, “I will not serve you beer. Lumpy’s Landing is the kind of dive bar where you know immediately you’ve walked into a local spot. We definitely got a few “who are these people?” looks when we came in from out of town, but that faded pretty quickly and everyone was welcoming. The best part was realizing half the room seemed to be wearing a Lumpy’s Landing T-shirt. That tells you everything you need to know about the place—it has regulars, loyalty, and real character.
