I was disappointed to learn that Sunday 9.20 was their last operating day at this location and they're pivoting to catering. When they decide to return to a restaurant setting I will be there to support. The purple sweet potato cheesecake was AMAZING. I loved the chicken lollies and black eyed peas (which I am not typically a fan of). The okra was great too (needed a smidge more seasoning) but I would definitely order again. We love this place so much! Best shrimp and grits ever! The location may be cursed but the food is fantastic. We will follow them anywhere.
The ambiance the food and presentation was awesome. I'm glad we found this gem. We spoke with the owner very pleasant and kind man. Was sad to hear they are closing the "Fine Dinning Area" but I'll definitely support when I'm back in Durham NC... Now I'm asking for the "COMMUNITY" to continue getting that great food?
Cons: A/C wasn’t working, many of the menu items were unavailable, server was inattentive (we sat by the window and after we received our food, she ignored us for almost 40 minutes), 90.5 sanitation grade. Also noted that a 20% Living Wage(?) was added to the tab. Pros: The food was great! The lollipop chicken with Mac and cheese was delicious as well as the pimento cheese and green tomato sandwich.
This was our second time eating here and you can see from my prior review that we loved it. Unfortunately, our second visit was extremely disappointing. The food remains good, hence the rating of 4 stars. I only gave it 3 stars for “atmosphere” because it was really hot inside.
