Lowe's installed the wrong water heater at my house and refused to take any responsibility. It's a long story but here it is: I went to Lowe's to purchase an electric residential water heater. They gave me a 1-800 number to call, as the water heater installation is done via a separate entity (1-800-heaters) that collaborates with Lowe's. Called 1-800-heaters and asked for a price quote for a 50 gallon electric water heater with 12 year warranty. They gave me a quote, which I found reasonable. I asked them to proceed with the order. They sent me a PDF file that had the order details (model number, installation cost, etc.). The numbers looked good and I asked them to install it. A few days later a local installer working on behalf of 1-800-heaters installed the water heater (they charged me $300 more for plumbing needed to install the water heater). When I asked the installer about the 12 year warranty, he said the water heater has a 6 year warranty. I immediately called Lowe's customer service, left my number for them to call me back (which they did not). Filled out an online form on Lowe's website as well (again no response). Kept calling Lowe's and eventually spoke with a rep. She sent me 1-800-heaters way. They said the model number in PDF order 'clearly' specifies that the warranty is 6 years. So, instead of specifying the warranty in plain English, they apparently expect the customers to know that 'E6' in model number 'E6-50H45DV' means 6 year warranty. I told them that I'm not a water heater expert and I just asked for one with a 12 year warranty. They were rude and refused to help. I called Lowe's and the rep was rude as well and sent me the manufacturer's way. Manufacturer said I should contact the installer. Anyways, after 1 week of making multiple calls per day, no one was willing to take responsibility and I ended up paying nearly $2000 for a water heater I had not ordered. I have been a long time Lowe's customer. But going forward, I would NEVER buy anything from Lowe's and will report Lowe's and 1-800-heaters to the Better Business Bureau.

How could Lowes Home Improvement improve? It's simple: take CUSTOMER SERVICE seriously. This store continues to hire and retain some of the most under-motivated, rude, and unfriendly associates I've ever encountered in retail. It's been this way since this store opened 20-some years ago. Why?

My Whirlpool refrigerator didn’t even make it two years without not working right. The food is freezing in the refrigerator! I had to turn the settings down only a few months after I got it. Now it’s on the lowest setting and freezing my food in the refrigerator. Of course they won’t do anything about it. It will cost as much as I paid for it to get it fixed! I DO NOT recommend buying refrigerators at Lowe’s!!!

Customer service is HORRIBLE! My mom ordered a fridge, was told it would take 4 days to be delivered. She specified with the store that the crew needed to drop it off at a certain time due to her work schedule, to which the store agreed. She rushed home from work to be there in time for the delivery only to find a message saying the crew was there 2 hours earlier. The customer service rep said the crew went home for the day and it would have to be rescheduled for another day. This is completely unacceptable and this store is ridiculous!

Went to Lowe’s lawn and garden today. I loaded up a cart of lawn and garden supplies. I then got in line to be checked out. I waited and waited in line. I continued waiting to get checked out. I eventually gave up and left. I walked over to Customer Service. I could not get any assistance from the in store Customer Service. I then called State College Lowe’s Customer Service. The individual I spoke with repeatedly asked me my name. I repeatedly provided my name. I got nowhere. They need to add more cashiers in the lawn and garden Dept. I ended up calling the Lowe’s Headquarters Customer Service. I expressed my frustrations with what took place at the State College Lowe’s. I ended up getting my landscaping supplies at Home Depot. Customer needs are not a priority at the State College Lowe’s.

I go to Lowes for the plants (annuals) that have been put on clearance, and I can pretty much always find something. Usually all they need is a little TLC. Staff is helpful. But if I am looking for a perennial or knowledgeable staff, I go to College Gardens.

Ordered a Refrigerator. Told we’d get it in a week. After a week without a refrigerator we were told it’d be another week. Wouldn’t do anything more than bump up delivery by one day. We will see if it even gets here on that day. My family and I will never shop here again.
