Pre-Surgery: Dr. Chang performed XLIF Surgery (Extreme Lateral Interbody Fusion) on 07/19/2024. I am writing to attest to the excellent and superior medical treatment, and ultimately surgery, I received from Dr. Chang and his entire medical staff. I chose Johns Hopkins Neurosurgery and Dr. Chang because of the minimally invasive procedure for lateral spine fusion as mentioned above. I also had great trust and faith in the renowned medical university hospitals famous for the application of their research to discover innovativ... read more

Dr. Chang is simply the best of the best. I received excellent care pre-procedure, during my hospital stay, and after surgery. I highly recommend him to family, friends, and anyone who needs to undergo surgery. I am walking and sleeping-- thanks to his care.

Dr Chang and his staff are so professional extremely organized. I never have to wait. They respond quickly. I had a major operation. Everyone on his staff was so kind and professional. I would give him a 15 out of town if I could. Look no further Dr Chang is the only person who you should let do your surgery. He is a friend for life. And I was so hesitant to have the surgery. I feel like a new person all thanks to him and his wonderful team. I cannot say enough great things about them. Don’t get a second opinion Dr Chang is ... read more

Within a short time, was able to resume many of my normal activities: ie. showering, dressing, helping with meals, very light housekeeping and walking around my home. I did have the normal fatigue from a major surgery, but each day I could... read more

Beginning in the fall of 2025, I began suffering from excruciating pain in my lower back. After several tests, including an MRI, orthopedic doctors diagnosed pressure on the spine between L4 and L5. They all recommended a lamanectimy (spinal fusion). I resisted this procedure because from my law practice I knew spinal fusions were very seldom successful. I researched the literature and found a paper by Dr. Louis Chang wherein he described microsurgery using a camera and small tube to relieve pressure from the spinal cord. I ... read more
