Louies Pub Rocks out! – I think this place is THE BEST karaoke spot in Chicago! I've been hanging out at this place ever since I stumbled across it when I first moved here. Awesome crowd- yes, it's busy on Fri and Saturdays- but that is what makes it fun! The more rowdy the crowds get, the more fun it is, becuase let's face it- we all want an audience! The DJ's are all powerhouse singers too- I asked, and they are required by the owner to sing throughout the night in order to "keep the party going." Sometimes people pick a l... read more
A little diva in all of us – Ever since I first moved to Chicago, I've been frequenting what I at first thought was just a hole in the wall. The jovial atmosphere and wide range of singing talent never ceases to amuse. It is pretty crowded on weekends, understandably, but if you're patient (and friendly helps) you'll get to sing your song--as long as you submit it early enough. For the karaoke shy, come on a Tuesday or Wednesday and sing for an intimate friendly crowd that is always sure to applaud.
Karaoke Specialty – They've got a new karaoke player. There are about 2500 songs to choose from. They have 3 wireless microphones which is a great plus. Excellent selection of songs. You can walk around the bar or dance as you sing. There are also new plasma televisions to watch your favorite sports teams. You can sing a lot on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Sunday and early Friday or Saturday starting at 9pm sharp. After midnight on Saturday you will likely sing if you attach a tip with each request...because if you don't someone els... read more
Great Friendly Crowd – Some reviews on here were done on a busy Saturday which I admit can be somewhat difficult to get the chance to sing your song. But let me tell you once you get your song up you will be singing it proud and loud with a friendly crown that will never find your song oversang or your singing below par. To those people that find it crowded, what do you expect on a Saturday night?? If there weren't any crowds people would complain even more. Hey it's a Saturday, it's a day to be social! If you do want to exp... read more
Service? – Since I live near Louie's I figured I'd stop by for a Saturday evening of karaoke with friends. We showed up when the bar was lively but not too crowded. I was surprised to learn the bar did not take credit cards. We arrived at 11 pm and put a few songs in. At 2 am they were pushing us rudely out of the back room and we STILL had not been allowed to sing one song while the karaoke DJ let the same group of people control the microphone all night. By closing the same people controlled the mic. The DJ didn't care and... read more
No Karaoke for You – The sign outside says this is a place "where friends meet." Guess that's true because you have to be in the KJ's inner circle of friends to get a chance to sing. We got there around 11:30 pm. Between the four of us, we didn't get a chance to sing once before closing at 2:30 am -- after blowing lots of $$$ on drinks and tips. Yet a few other people got to sing several times during that time span. Even the KJ sang twice herself. WTF? Maybe she didn't like our songs, because we didn't pick stuff that should... read more
Get on the mike and show 'em your stuff at this corner tap. – The Scene Louie's Pub is a welcoming, old-school neighborhood bar, consistently popular with a diverse set of younger folks. On any night of the week, there are regular guys, ties loosened, and an equal number of 20-something ladies comparing notes. Louie's has plenty of bottled beers--domestics suit the clientele fine--and Miller Lite on tap. Keeping up with the trends, Louie's has a specialty martini menu. The narrow front barroom opens into an area where stools... read more
