I absolutely love everything that the Loon Preservation Committee does to restore, maintain, and protect the population of such an iconic species like the common loon in New Hampshire. Their staff members work so hard and their high passion never goes unnoticed. I am especially fond of LPC’s incredibly important work to rid lakes and ponds of lead fishing tackle, because there is just no place for lead in our atmosphere. Lots of really interesting information about loons, and the taxidermied specimens are great, because of course you can't get that close to s live one. I didn't realize they were so big! Great walking trail around the lake too.

I wish the folks at the Loon Center would help to protect other birds that migrate through the same waters that the loons do out front of the land of the Sanctuary. Its hunting season again and migrating birds are being massacred out front of the Sanctuary. How can it be a Sanctuary for one species of bird but not all?

My real name is Judith Mayer and I have been watching the Loon Cam this whole season because my cam in Minnesota did not have a pair nesting this year. I am a long time loon watcher and student so I know a lot about them. At least I thought I did until I had the opportunity to visit the Loon Cam Chat Room all season.
