Very disappointing experience. My family and I took a scenic drive out to Loon Lake, which is already about a 17-minute drive off Highway 38. We stopped at the lodge store, made a purchase, and I needed to use the restroom. Despite being a paying customer, I was told the restroom was “for guests only,” meaning only people staying at the lodge. The employee was rude and showed no compassion. We have been going to loon lake every year for awhile and each year its more and more run down. The rates are extremely high for the lack in quality or cleanliness. This year was the absolute worst, only 2 of the shower rooms were open (out of 3) the womans bathroom has been closed for at least the 4 years if not longer. If you ask about it they just say its broken, but apparently they have no intentions of fixing it. They didn't have enough Toilet paper. We only had one roll and it took about 3 hours to get an extra roll for our cabin (all the public restroom also didn't have any). They don't mention that the water there taste bad and that you should bring your own water. They also fail to mention that reception is ifffy. You have to pay for cell service and even with that your phone calls don't always go through. This would be nice to know beforehand.
Loon lake itself is great, the location is nice. But for how much it costs to stay there, it's a mess. The bathrooms being the worst. There are 3 shower/bathroom combos. One was broken, and one had no working light, so that leaves one shower for the entire campground. They're dirty and wet and not maintained. If you wanna party all night and have no rules, ordinances, maintenance, or basic amenities then this is the place for you.
