I got a First Time Homeowner grant through Brookhaven Down Payment Assistance Program. I am very grateful to LIHP and Brookhaven DPA for helping me achieve my goal of being a honeowner. I would be lying if I say it wasn't stressful. There were times i wanted to give up. If you stick with it and provide everything they ask of you, you will be approved. Melissa W and Janet H were the people I worked with. I am very thamkful to them and again the program. I closed on my house last week.
Discriminated against me on two separate occasions. I was number 2 in one lottery because I am a veteran. They asked for a guarantor, which was odd because I met the rent requirements. I reached out several times for an explanation for my denial because magically I wasn't eligible for the apartment after I gave very sensitive information of mine and my guarantor's, which exceeded the financial requirements. They are supposed to fairly disseminate housing grants of public money. What a joke. They need to be investigated
