First the negative. Don't be fooled by the still functioning paint rock canyon trailhead and parking lot just passed medicine , lodge , archaeological site. It is closed 1 km up the trail.Because the new owners of paint , rock ranch will not let hikers cross their guest ranch and instead keep access to public lands for their paying clients. I love the hiking opportunities here. So many different views, so many different types of terrain. I watched a cattle drive pass through the valley as I was up on the ridge. There are plenty of cool rock formations in this area, if you're a fan of geology.
Beautiful hike, but rocky two-track road leading into the trailhead.
