Shawn Jones did an appraisal for a home in which I am the buyers agent. He short appraised the home by $15,000. He was not familiar with the area and drove over 2 hours for the assignment. He missed several crucial details on the report. After he initiated Tidewater we submitted comps that he missed and corrected his adjustments for the ones he used. I recently had a terrible experience with Shawn Jones from London Castle. He was assigned a VA appraisal on a real estate transaction I was involved in. The order was put out to the VA portal on Dec. 8th and picked up by Shawn the morning of Dec. 9th. In Illinois, VA appraisals are allotted 10 business days for completion. On Dec. 15th Shawn made a note in the VA portal about there being inclement weather that day, no big deal, I remember the day and it was very cold. No additional updates after that. Bogus appraisal was done on a property in Joliet, Illinois (had a number of health and safety issues) on September 6, 2025 and the appraiser did NOT perform the VA's minimum property requirements (MPRs). This causes a HUGE disservice to potential veteran purchasers...

London Castle Appraisals provides an incredibly disappointing experience. They didn't even communicate properly with the realtors, which caused unnecessary delays and confusion. On top of that, their appraisal was completely off, comparing our property to units that weren’t even remotely similar to the one we bought. The lack of professionalism, poor communication, and inaccurate evaluations make working with them a frustrating ordeal.

Shawn, the appraiser, is causing a deal to fall apart because he will not return any calls, emails, or a report in a timely fashion. It took an entire week just for him to call tidewater, and now 3 days later still NOTHING. Have had to call the VA at this point and still no reply. He is ignoring multiple attempts at contact, and this deal has a tight timeframe. It is one thing to be backed up, it's another to be completely unprofessional.
