I purchased a “rebuilt” engine from LKQ about 2½ years ago. It was installed by my long-standing mechanic (a reputable 5-star shop). Six months later, with only ~15,000 km on the engine, I was left stranded on the side of the highway during a road trip. I paid out of pocket for my shop to tear down the engine and document internal damage on video showing faulty internal components.
