My teenager was referred to Behavior Therapy Assoc. and then connected to Dr. Mermelstein by Brain & Behavior for treatment of major depression. They visited Dr. M for approx 9 months + while continuing to exhibit very dangerous behaviors including drug use, self-harm, dangerous social media encounters, etc. When discussed with Dr. M she said her job was to support her "patient's goals". I started seeing Liza shortly after the pandemic and was highly uncertain if therapy would be effective for me. She provided not only a safe and confidential space, but also equipped me with numerous tools while still respecting who I am as a person and the circumstances surrounding my life. With Liza I feel understood, supported, and yet I am still challenged in areas that I am desiring to make changes. I’ve worked with Dr. Mermelstein for almost a decade. She is professional, knowledgeable, attentive, and kind. I have felt accepted and supported in each and every session. I cannot recommend her enough!
