great family style for either Local or Italian fare – This happy bustling place gets packed so there can be a line out through the bar..but that's ok since the frosted mugs of beer are overly generous. Outstanding food with overly generous portions so think about getting appetizers (fried pickles or shrimp remoulade served on Fried Green Tomatoes) and then splitting an entry with a friend. If you want BBQ Shrimp Po-boys served at the bar, go to Liuzza's at the Track. If you want a great sit down meal then its Liuzza's MidCit... read more

Mid-City's neighborhood outpost of Creole-Italian fare since 1947. – In Short The single dining room is simple and always busy as nimble servers float through narrow spaces and treat every customer like a regular. The family-run institution boasts an adjoining "old guy" barroom, drinks served in hefty schooners, and a brisk trade in pasta dishes and seafood specialties--just about anything that can be covered in red gravy. Most appetizers are deep-fried--artichoke hearts, pickles and onions, and the house-specialty fried gre... read more

Great gumbo, fantastic shrimp – Had to respond to V2flu. This person obviously has no idea what the hell they are talkign about. This is a mussst visit place in NOLA. Used to live on this street, it is not in the gheto. If it was, so what? Cannot believe noone has mentioned the bbq shrimp po boy. My second favorite sandwhich behind the philly cheesesteak(my hometown). It is sublime! A black pepper butter and something I have never been able to tell what it is sauce in a fresh baked french roll which is hollowed out and fille... read more

Very Good To Order and Take Out – Usually the resteraunt is busy, and the staff is over worked, so you do have to wait to be served. It is highly recommended that you order and take your food out to eat at home or you hotel room. The ROAST BEEF POBOY is WONDERFUL! You would want to eat this poboy alone as you find yourself licking your fingers. :-) The mozzerella sticks are very tasty too. If you have the time to wait to eat, they will bring a drink fairly quick. But you do have to wait for your meal. Call ahead as it takes ... read more

Good good, poor service. – I used to love going here...nice little family-style neighborhood restaurant. The Frenchulettas are divine! But, the service leaves something to be desired. On my last visit, an elderly couple sat next to me and were ignored without so much as a greeting for over 20 minutes until they left without ordering. Simply unacceptable. Unfortunately, I won't be back soon.

Flustered... – I'm not quite sure why everyone thinks this place is so great. I'm not from New Orleans, so maybe that's it. I guess maybe you have to be a local to appreciate it. First of all, it's located pretty much in the ghetto. The gumbo was some of the worst I've had. French fry po-boy consisted of soggy steak fries, gravy, lettuce and tomato on a loaf, and wasn't good, nor was the chicken livers po-boy. Fried green tomatoes with shrimp remoulade was average at best. And the big frosty mugs of root beer are overrated. ... read more
