If the judge appoints Lisa Duke as amicus, beg him/her to appoint someone else. She is terrible. She'll strong arm you in to things that you know aren't right and she'll lie to you to make it happen like "we can try it for a while and then try something else" and then that never happens. She doesn't listen to your kids. My oldest couldn't stand her. She lacks any semblance of compassion or empathy. She's a bully and just a nasty person in general. If I could give a negative rating, I would. I was highly recommended to Lisa Duke to serve as an amicus attorney for my custody case by my first attorney. At the time, my son was just over 2 months old and dealing with ongoing medical issues. His father had not been involved — offering no financial support and refusing to see him until legally ordered to do so. He had no stable housing or vehicle. We used her as the amicus attorney to be fair but it was biased towards me. The reason for kids to remain with mother was based off the assumption I worked too much and my fiancé would watch kids. When I had been recently promoted and had set hours. Once we finished I reached out for the remainder of retainer fee. Never heard back. Both I and my attorney reached out about her decision and she never even responded to emails. This all took place November 2023.
I would give a negative rating if possible. Biased, unethical lawyer. Steer clear of her. Tried using her as an amicus recommended by my lawyer to resolve a custody issue. Did nothing to help resolve the situation. Paid $1500 for her to speak to me for 30 minutes. I wouldn't trust her to handle a custody issue. No standard of practice, makes things up as she goes along.
Completely misleading by her and her colleges.
