Everyone is bagging on Line 6 these days. Their products are no longer valuable, and now have a very bad reputation within the music industry. If you want to associate yourself with 7 y/o beginers learning to play, then buy Line 6.
Line 6 was great in the past, but their products are now cheaply made in China. The modeling technology around for years is now considered old news. Line 6 is also going back to acoustic pickups (JT Variax) and real tubes (SpiderValve) because the modeling technology no longer has value. Line 6 said in the past they would never do tubes, now they are possibly due to sales issues.
