Went for lunch midweek on the recommendation of a friend. Got fish and chips. Fries were greasy and overcooked. Fish was fine but more breading then fish. The coleslaw was meh on a good day, fresh and crisp but lacked seasoning. The tartar sauce, however, is bangin'! Service was friendly and pretty prompt. Overpriced for the quality in my opinion. Have had better fish and chips in Maine for sure. Would maybe return for a chicken sandwich.
We stopped here for lunch shortly after landing in Portland for the first time, saw the reviews and decided to give it a try. The atmosphere is adorable, service was great, and the fish and chips were delicious. Very quaint local spot, they even have merch! Definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in the area.
Don’t eat fish and chips very often due to the “fried food” aspect. Good thing I’m not a local, This place rocks. Fish fry was delicate and flavorful. The oyster mushroom sandwich was delightful and a table favorite. Great atmosphere but acoustics are tough for the hard of hearing. Avoid the lunch rush if you want to have meaningful conversations. But I have to say there wasn’t much talking after the food arrived.
