Terrible, awful customer service! 20+ years with Lightning Source and over 120 titles later, we now feel compelled to warn other authors and publishers that L S UK (in particular) - as well as LS USA in Tennessee it seems, have abandoned any and all sincere efforts at proper customer service. At one time you could call or email your Account Rep. No longer. Now it is voicemail, "Because everyone is in a meeting" or "The Team" will get back to you in due course. Which mostly, they do not! There needs to be a minus star for Lightning Source service. When I started using Lightning Source for printing our books, they were great. I had a rep I could call or email and get a quick real personal response. Now it has grown beyond terrible. Quality is still good but literally no customer service. Ten days ago, I received someone else's book when I ordered a book I wrote and published. If I could give a zero star rating to this company I would. It actually deserves a minus zero star rating. The problem isn't with their printing quality, which is excellent. The problem is with their customer service, which is the worst I have ever experienced. And customer service these days isn't what it should be. LSI used to be great--smooth, efficient, dependable. Since automation, publishers have lost touch with representatives -- the human touch. "- So called "Support" is two spindly legs trying to hold up a mountain. My initial "Set-up" at LSI was completed May 15th then it hit a snag, a stop for two weeks. IBPA got the book moving, and it went out to Market -- Amazon, three weeks after submission. At the same time I ordered two boxes (50) for Home Office use. I am a small publisher who has been with Lightning Source for decades. Their customer service in recent years has been abominable. In January I took advantage of transferring one of my accounts from LSI to Spark. It has been nothing short of a nightmare trying to access the remnants of the old account to download sales data. I have been wrestling with the support team for at lease 3 weeks and no one is able to understand what I am wanting. Very frustrating. These folks print absolute garbage. The paper quality is so bad you can see through the pages. When you bring it to their attention they do nothing, even when they acknowledge the mistake. If you are self-publishing I recommend you go someplace else!
