I am a platelet donor because my late wife needed platelets towards the end of her life (while we were in MS) and there were none to be found without a very diligent search. Consequently, I donate. I am not a needle guy and avoid them as much as possible. The young lady that took care of me was very professional. The needle stick was less troublesome that when they pricked my finger for a blood test. Go figure. Highly recommend the staff at Lifesouth. Now I just have to work up enough nerve to schedule my next appt.

My husband has to get his blood drawn multiple times a month due to hemochromatosis. He was refused service today because they claimed his hemoglobin levels were at 19.2 and “the cutoff is 19”. We then spent all day at the Emergency room across the street trying to get a phlebotomy, because if he didn’t get a blood draw today he has very serious health risks like strokes and blood clots. The ER says his levels are NOT at 19.2 they are in 17.5. Your hemoglobin levels do not go down within a span of hours like this. Would love... read more
