Update: After 3 hours in the waiting room, I was finally taken back and placed on a cot in a busy hallway. This is not acceptable protocol. Lexington do better! Never thought I would say that my experience at the Lexington Medical Center’s Emergency Room was awful. After receiving wonderful care at Lexington’s Urgent Care, I was sent to be admitted to Lexington Medical Center via the emergency room. WOW has this declined. Visiting the ER felt very different from what I’ve experienced in the past. The recent changes seem to have created an environment that feels impersonal and detached from the level of patient-centered care one would typically expect. Nurses and Techs were moving from patient to patient in the waiting room taking vitals with no privacy. What stood out most was seeing multiple patients sitting in the waiting area with IV catheters in their arms. I was not an easy patient. I had to be admitted after an issue after a colonoscopy. The staff was great and I am sorry I was not the nicest. My anxiety was high after losing my parents and hospitals bring back so much of that pain. Thank you again for the great care and for putting up with me.
