Look other places - there HAS to be something better These people are bad to rent from! They are very inconsiderate and only care about getting your money. The apartments are JUNK, and are pieced together. Too expensive for what you get and they don't fix anything. All they want is their money. It is just terrible that they take advantage of young kids trying to get through school living off school loans, or part - time jobs. Worst rental company in Manhattan Watch out! Head guy (Lane?) will nickel and dime you on check out...then will charge you a "professional cleaning" fee if he deems it not "clean enough", but really just comes in with his wife and surface cleans...and not well, as we were expected to clean the house prior to moving in!
DO NOT RENT People who rate it well are people who WORK FOR HIM. His lease violates at least 8 codes in the City of Manhattan. Windows cracked,place is FILTHY and you are expected to clean it PRIOR to living there. Does NOT do a walk through with you at all. No certified plumbers or electricians are used so the work is awful and not to code. They will change things to code to pass it then remove the work when the CITY is not looking. Rotting wood. Similar to most Landlords in Manhattan First off, If you are looking for a fair renter in Manhattan, your probably SOL. The relationship between tenants and landlords has been ruined by both sides. Now Landlords are becoming slumlords, and many hurt tenants do anything they can to anger their landlords.
A decent landlord Lane would get stuff done, just from time to time you might have to call him to remind of about something needing work on the minor things (the water sprayer on our kitchen sing was missing a trigger). The major things (our hot water heater went out) was taken care of same day. As far as the deposit, you get out of it what you put into it. If you detail clean the unit, you will get more of your deposit back then if you don't really try. There are better landlords out there...but there are defiantly worse on... read more
Great Landlords- Family Business They were always available and timely, like a landlord should be. They took care of things that we could/should have done ourselves. There is an emergency line you can call at any hour if you need immediate help at any hour. They sprayed for bugs diligently twice a year (unlike other landlords in Manhattan) and though we had a basement apt., I never saw a bug in there. They gave us a discount on our subleasing fee one summer AND gave us the full remainder of the deposit... this shows that if ... read more
bad--watch out These guys are not good landlords. They will keep your security deposit,did it to us and to tenants before us as well. They didn't fix thing and were really rude and childish. We really didn't like living there. At first they tried to be nice, and then turned into bad landlords who just want to profit.
