I've tried to get help from these people three times, and even though I met the criteria for assistance, I was turned down. I was sent a letter stating that they were understaffed and overwhelmed. I was given some vague answers. These people don't help. Why do they even exist if they're turning everyone down who needs them? Where's the help for low income families who really need them? Unless you are covered in bruises, good luck. I was approved for help 2020,, but then COVID-19 struck, I Wasn’t sure if I was gonna keep my job or not. I asked to pause what we had worked on to that point, due to the overwhelming situation. When things calmed down and I asked to restart divorce paperwork, I was told no because my “husband had moved out”, the lawyer told me because “since kids and I felt safe at the house that the abuse had stopped”.
