I was given a grand but was not permitted to choose lawyer my own. Even I looked for good feedback review. Legal aid chose lawyers for me not one but three times. These legal aid lawyers did not want to work or put efforts. I told legal aid that is a big waste of money but this is the main goal of legal aid. Got some terrible legal advice from a Legal aid Cairns lawyer last year in regards to a human rights complaint. After the appointment, I even emailed Legal aid Cairns sharing my feedback and expressing dissatisfaction on the advice received. They couldn't care to apologise or even respond to my email. Would have given them 0 stars if that was an option.
My legal aid lawyer T.C. represented me in the children’s matter in family court. T.C. was extremely organised and efficient. Too efficient it turns out, wrapping up the children’s matter in record time by signing orders for my son to live 50% with his abusive dad. I had not consented to this division of time. T.C. offered to resign, then offered to submit an urgent application to the the court. I didn’t know that an ‘urgent application’ still took months.
