It was fine, good enough food, neither me nor my dinner companion were blown away though. Small but decent wine list.
Some of the best food I’ve had in Montreal, but sadly, the service is pretty bad. I’ve been two times and have had better service at Starbucks.. I wish I was kidding. It contrasts badly with the food that is spectacular. Inattentive, cold, long and confused service both times I went. It really is the only downside to this beautiful place.
Celebrating our anniversary and first night in Montreal, my partner and I arrived quite early for our reservation, but after realizing, apologized and went on a walk around the block. We came back for our reservation time on the dot, and were told that our table was not ready yet. Partly,owned by,one of my favorite artists, Dan Climan this is a great restaurant, Michelin guide 2 years in a row, really cool neighborhood, buzzy atmosphere, superb wine list, menu changes ages regularly, really can't say enough, I arrived early and was gifted a glass of champagne whilst I waited. Really great place
The front of the establishment reflects the spirit of the name but that's about it. Violon take a twist on French and Mediterranean classics. The vibe is alive, fast and convivial. The elevated bistro food is very good. The only flat (bemol in French, perfectly fitting here) is the price that is not justified. Happy to take friends who want to try there but personally, I wont go back as there many better options for price and quality.
