Whatever you do, do not sit at a table before you pay. Otherwise the shop will hit you with a 20% “dining in” surcharge and then point to a small sign by the register that’s very easily missed if you wish to dispute the charge - with no warning whatsoever. The manager was polite but dang. PRO TIP: Pay first. Then find a seat. God forbid they have a happy customer enjoy their delicious gelato inside…
Very disappointed with this place, especially considering the high prices. The ice cream is fine, however the pastries are extremely overpriced for the quality you get. I ordered the Napoleon and it was honestly awful. The cream tasted like raw butter, to the point where it was hard to eat, (I wonder if it had been sitting there for a long time, or if it’s just bad.) I also tried the raspberry entremet, which was fine but nothing special at all. Overall, nothing justified the price, and I wouldn’t come back or recommend it.
The owner was not friendly
Un petit taste of France in La Jolla! The macarons are made using the traditional French recipe so they are naturally gluten free! The cafe offers gelato and espresso drinks also. As you would in Paris, enjoy your treats in the cute cafe!
