12 years ago I lost my license due to a failure to appear for a ticket after I had moved away from Colorado. Since California shares a tracking service with Colorado, I'm unable to get a driver's license here. I called the county courthouse several years ago and was told that I couldn't do it over the phone due to a bench warrant for nonpayment/failure to appear. I was told I had to present myself to be arrested and would then know what violations I had and pay them. PLUS(!), the price of an airfare and related travel costs.... read more
