I was in court recently with a therapy client of mine, and Mr. Conway was the attorney assigned to her by the Public Defender's office. Mr. Conway was just awesome! He was well-prepared, he had spoken with the Deputy District Attorney and then conveyed a possible plea offer to my client, and he explained the different options to us. In talking before the judge, he spoke very well for my client and was able to offer some extenuating circumstances affecting her case. I was arrested and charged with DUI and was given Mr. Conway as a public defender. I asked Mr. Conway to get me into veteran's court. He said that it wouldn't be a problem and I trusted him. He ended up entering a plea before making the request which made me ineligible for veteran's court. After the judge denied the request, Mr. Conway told the judge that he was aware of the proper procedure but that most of the time the judges grant the request after a plea has been entered.
