The dino/fairy trails were under maintenance when we visited, but it's a very nice park even without those. My son loved running under the big canopy tree. The woman working in the Veteran's Museum was super engaging, and deserves special praise. She let us know about the upcoming toy train exhibition. Wish I had more time to look around. Update: Train show was wonderful! My 18 month old was enchanted and had a lot of fun. There was also a scavenger hunt that would be fun for slightly older kids.
Learnt Service Animals are not permitted in Arboretums. Listened to a presentation on medicinal trees and plants. Got an idea to offer an herbal course to NYBG. Saw sage plants and to the woman who asked me how to make sage oil - I experimented with the idea today. Dried sage leaves (in sunlight or in a quiet place in the fridge), crushed them into a quarter cup of hot oil and also used the microwave to zap them further. Wait till the oil cools down and then add normal temperature oil to it. I used olive oil.
Beautiful garden treasure in Yorktown heights. Complete with a dinosaur trail, ferry trail and Japanese garden. Peaceful and well kept. Free
