Larry and Mitch Raikes built their first submarine sandwich shop in Jacksonville, Fla., during 1982. We did the drive thru and cashier was nice but once we got to the window they had their phone music blasting so not very professional. Food was good and price was ok.
Do not eat here if you have food allergies! I'm celiac and have been excited to eat at Larry's since I can't have bread and prior to them I haven't had a sub at a restaurant in years. The staff was well aware of my allergy since I work in the same lot and order the same thing on days where I don't have time to eat before my shift. I was starving and hadn't eaten prior to my shift and figured that I might as well treat myself to something nice. They make a great New York quality sub and I plan to try more.
As good as always. I remember when the very first store was open and the guys were very young over on Atlantic Boulevard in Jacksonville. Some of the subs are still the same as they always were. That's a great thing!
