It’s been years since I saw smithing. He was treating my problem and I was very satisfied with man and I would go to him again if he was on my insurance.Oh I hate HMO that you can’t pick and choose your own health care.
While he somewhat managed an emergency, I followed up and went in for a regular exam. It seemed he was more interested in adding services and making money off me than listening and supporting my needs. I had one check up and didn’t return. Women are more complex than just their physical appearances.
I recently had my first baby. I was planning to deliver with my midwife at her birth center, but went into labor at 35 weeks which is too early for the birth center so I had to go to the hospital. Dr Smithing was the first doctor I saw and he basically came in and told me that I wasn’t going to be successful in going unmedicated as I planned and that it was likely I would experience failure to progress and need a c section. I saw Dr. Smithing for my first pregnancy. I did not feel he cared about any concern I brought up in office, and was frustrated with his lack of bedside manner. During the birth, my baby wasn't progressing while I was pushing, in active labor. So, for some inexplicable reason, he left me pushing....with a nurse...while he went to another hospital to deliver another baby. The nurse had to call him two hours later and request he come back and he was floored the baby hadn't been born yet. If this weren't bad enough, I was extre... read more
I went to Dr. Smithing for my first prenatal visit, when I was 8-10 weeks pregnant with an unplanned pregnancy. I was not married at the time. Dr. Smithing asked me a series of questions which I found inappropriate and unprofessional, including what my LDS bishop thought of my pregnancy. I did not return for future care. Luckily, I found a great OBGYN in Dr. Margit Lister, who was kind, knowledgeable, and completely professional.
A klutz - not to be trusted with anything that requires finesse. Made a serious error and joked about it, rather than apologizing - and still charged for the services!
After years of searching for a provider that took my needs and concerns serious, Dr Smithing treated me through five years of infertility and repeated miscarriages with dignified professionalism and compassion. He then was my provider through three high risk pregnancies. I cannot thank or recommend him enough.
