What a magnificent feat of modern technology. This telescope is a monstrosity and I was in aww the whole time I was there. The crew that maintain the facility were so friendly and answered any questions I had. Thank you for the experience.
Well right now it's not too good
This place is huge! 5 sets of stairs just to get to the base of the telescope. If you get the chance, its a must visit, but they only give very limited number of passes each year. The road is treacherous, so make sure you have a a high car, suitable for off roading, we used the Turo service to get a Jeep Wrangler - small and agile. The staff up at the telescope were all so accommodating and very knowledgeable. You need to stay for the view of the night sky - it is un-missable
