I use to work for the office over in Hoover. If you were 5 minutes late getting to the shop in the morning they would write you up. If you had a family emergency and had to take off you would get a write up. Worst company I have ever worked for. Did not know how to give you safe equipment to operate while cutting grass. The zero turn mower they gave me I had to keep a wheel chock to put under the tire to keep it from moving in the back of the truck while driving to my houses to cut. When I told them about it all I got was oh... read more

Placed massive amounts of pine needles up against a 1970's wood sided apartment building despite being specifically warned about numerous fires caused by pine needles which are highly flammable and burn very hot and quickly. Google "Pine Straw Fires" or watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TBnHdhtq-k As Voltaire once said, common sense is not so common. when you see Bear Grylls on a TV survival show telling you to gather pine needles because they are easy to start a fire, you don't put them against a wooden stru... read more

Cut our water pipe 6 different times! It is obvious that they have no idea what they are doing. The sod they put down is squishy and your feet feel like they are sinking. They spent many hours on our new sprinkler system and could not get the directions right for weeks. Spend your money elsewhere. This company is ran by a venture capitalist firm (McKinney Capital), and they obviously can't manage their companies.

The worst lawn company out there! They charge for services you don't ask for and then threaten you if you won't pay for something you never wanted in the first place plus their service is atrocious. They don't mow your entire yard- only parts of it and then bill you for it and will not come correct it. Do NOT recommend. Use someone else. There are lots of great lawn companies in Knoxville, Check their RipOff Reports and Google plus reviews they are HORRIBLE!

I received a call from employees at Volunteer Lawn who had a wrong number. Once I informed them that I was not the person they were trying to reach, they continued to call me with alarming frequency and developed an extremely disrespectful tone, insisting I was a former employee who still had one of their company cell phones. Once I blocked the first number, I received another call from Volunteer Lawn, simply using a different number. Although I cannot comment on their skills with lawn care, I would never work with this comp... read more

Volunteer Lawn handles all of the landscape maintenance for our neighborhood and have been for several years. They always show up when they are scheduled and do a great job. The entire neighborhood looks GREAT!

We have oaks that drop their leaves late. Our usual lawn company had trouble with their leaf removal truck, so we had to hire a different company to pick up our leaves. A job that usually cost 75 Volunteer Lawn charged 370. If you want expensive and ruts in your lawn, this is the place to call. Is there a rating below 1 star?

Terrible customer service. I called to have them come out and look at my landscaping and was told an account manager would call me back. More than a week later I hadn't heard from anyone and called back, explaining my situation, and was told the same thing. A week and half went by and no one ever called. Maybe business is so great for them they can afford to ignore new business opportunities.
