Extremely disappointing healthcare provider and surgeon. Dr Lan Chen has a terrible bedside manner, is arrogant, and directly caused me to have a permanent disability. She performed a peroneal tendon repair on me when she was working with Northshore Healthcare System in Evanston, and she overtightened my tendon when making the repair (she tried some fancy corkscrew anchor with the repair and it seems she didn't know what she was doing with the technology at that point in her career). Dr. Chen took excellent care of my nephew's ankle injury that required surgery. She was empathetic, listened to his concerns, detail oriented, and accommodating with his school schedule. He has had a fantastic surgical outcome being able to return to sports and life etc. as a young adult.
Caring, compassionate, and goes above and beyond expectations to make me feel comfortable and reassured. She called me at 9:30pm just to check on me after surgery! Office is clean, new, and staff is very friendly and helpful. Already scheduled my second surgery for my other foot with Dr. Chen. I highly recommend her!!
basically refused to answer any questions. refused to show me my xray. flat out lied about my recovery time. went for a month with no answers and large amounts of anxiety due to her entire lack of empathy and bedside manner. invalidated my fears and concerns. i got a much better second opinion from rush orthopedics. don't bother at all with this woman.
