The spa service was lovely and relaxing, and my mani-pedi looks great. However, I was surprised when two different staff members asked me where I worked on the island, even though I’m a tourist. It left me feeling a bit singled out and uncomfortable as if assumptions were being made about me because my skin is brown.
Lakeside Spa…ugh. Where do I start? My friend and I scheduled two massages there while on vacation on Mackinac Island. We both had Jacob the masseuse – a young fellow who we both question if he was even a licensed massage therapist. I had my make up done here for my rehearsal dinner and WOW. I wish I remember the name of who did my make up but I have never felt so beautiful in my entire life. I had hired someone to come up to the island for my wedding day and honestly loved my make up done at Lakeside Salon so much more. Incredibly talented people there!! I would 100% use them for all services (hair and make up) if I could do it again!
