Thank you to all the staff involved in taking care of Dou Dou in his final days. Particularly the late night and early morning staff. A special thank you to Dr Sarah for her advice and obvious love of all pets. We had hoped to bring Dou Dou home one more time but his amazingly strong little heart just couldn't beat any longer. If I could give 0 stars, I absolutely would! Lake Road advertise themselves as a 24‑hour emergency service, which is laughable considering what actually happened when my dog needed them most. Last year, my Jack Russell, Gunner, a patient of yours, punctured his windpipe at around 10pm. He was struggling to breathe, air was escaping through a wound in his throat, and I live out of town, so I called Lake Road while driving in, desperate for help. Their response? “We can’t help you. The Drs and staff at Lake Road Veterinary Hospital took such great care of our beautiful girl Coco and loved and treated her as she was their own. We can’t thank the staff enough for the photos and constant updates and putting our minds at ease that she was being well looked after.

Whilst I’m sure my baby had the best care she unfortunately did not make it home. The vet communicated well with me on all issues and treatment. Our family was - and still is - going through a major upheaval and I only communicated by phone so have not met any of the staff. I do have an issue with the aftercare - I specifically stated on the phone that I did not want to receive any body/ashes/pawprints/noseprints/cards/flowers - but I received a sympathy card with pawprints and small vials of her hair. The staff were very respectful. Had fairly good communication. Responsive with the care of Stella and receiving pictures and messages in the morning brought me comfort. Provided my girl with a safe and comfortable environment whilst she was in a place that was unfamiliar whilst upholding the best care for her.
