The Lake Hopatcong Foundation is a great organization that looks after the interests of the lake and its surroundings. The old train station building that is their office is a great historical site and nice for meetings and presentations. The various events they run through the year are very interesting and entertaining.

As a nonprofit who says they rely on support from the community, it’s surprising to learn that when their May 20, 2023 event got washed out, instead of refunding vendors, like stated via email, they kept all the money. At the very least, this group should have credited vendors for next year or hosted another event this summer when it’s nice so people could have made a profit instead of losing money thanks to a poorly planned event.
