We visited the dam wall which is apparently an engineering feat creating the vast Lake Argyle reservoir near the town of Kununurra. The dam wall was built between 1969 to 1971 as part of the very dubious Ord River Irrigation Scheme. It is 335 metres long and 98 metres high constructed primarily of earth and rock fill, with a narrow impervious core of silty sand and filter material on either side.
