The Lodge at Sanders point is what it is called now. We loved this place. My parents brought us to this area 50 years ago. I wanted my family to see the area. The lodge at Sanders point just made the trip perfect. The uniqueness of this lodge made you fill like you were part of this land. You could hear the wild goats and watch them climb the cliffs. We have already started planning our next years trip.
The drive in is a little deceptive but just keep on going. The cabins are huge. Cabin 9 and 10 have a great view of the canyon and river. We were so happy to sit on the porch and watch the sunset while the grill was getting just right to cook steaks. The sky at night is loaded with stars. Because everyone always wants to know, the bed was really comfortable! The hosts are wonderful and ready to help in any way they can. The remote location ensures peace & quiet with a scenic view of the river. I haven't seen stars that bright except for camping.| We stayed #1 which is the closest to the river. The interior was a little dated but with some recent updates such as new stove & ceramic tile. Most of the cabins were built in the 40's, with stone walls & a screen door. There is a washer & dryer. Our duplex cabin (2 bedroom) had the essentials inside but outside it holds a wonderful connection to the beauty surrounded by limestone cliffs at the waters edge. We had friendly deer all day. Birds singing. Palm leafs rustling in the breeze. The stars we're almost as good as the view in fort Davis. Each cabin has a working kitchen with everything you need. Our cabin had one tiny restroom with tub shower and a washer and dryer. The bedrooms were each a nice size. The owners live on-site which helps when needed. We got away ... read more
