Tonja is amazing! She helped me learn that I could not breast feed and did an oral evaluation of my baby! we found out my baby had a class 4 tongue and lip tie, with sleep apnea. Tonja worked with us before and after the procedure to ensure good healing. My baby has a very different mouth and feeding after completing oral therapy with her! So thankful and couldn’t recommend Tonja more.
If I could leave more stars for Tonja I would. She has been an Angel sent. My son and I not only struggled with latching issues but with bottle feeding as well. My infant son previously had a tongue release and it felt like our breastfeeding journey got worse. We weren’t told about any pre or post after care. When we first started seeing Tonja I couldn't get my daughter to latch with a nipple shield. With Tonja's guidance not only can she latch without one, she can hold the latch without slipping off. Tonja believes in treating the whole body, not just the mouth. It was a lot of work, but 100% worth it! Tonja also approaches her care with so much compassion and empathy. Tonja is very knowledgeable and encouraging. If I would have had her help with my other 3 babies we probably would have breastfed longer! Gave me details on not only nursing but how it affects his body and mine and what I need to be eating and why. I never got that from any other lactation consultant! Very eye opening when I didn’t know my baby actually had symptoms of the tongue and lip tie. If I didn’t have her, I would have probably thought it was my fault for all his issues and gave up! Highly recommend Tonja Carpenter if your baby has any feeding problems. She is very knowledgeable & knows what she’s doing! My 1 month old was having latch problems breastfeeding so we stopped. Although I started bottle feeding, the problems didn’t disappear. That’s when I reached out to Tonja. She first came to our home for the first assessment & referred us to Dr Green for oral tie revisions.
