I wish we put our money for a better midwife sooner. We shared services with Lydia for a very short amount of time, mostly my first trimester. We only had a few phone calls with her and a couple appointments that were short or late ( that lateness being on us , not on her). However, in just those few interactions we received unpleasant, untimely, and incompetent service. My husband and I went into our virtual consults with Lydia not really knowing what we wanted or needed help with—just that we knew we’d need support after having our baby. My doula made this class a requirement. I attended, was active etc. Then comments started being mad (mind you my baby is extremely sick and a huge part of it is stress). A comment was made about how only black and latina women can feel the need to over work themselves and not relax.
