My daughter is 5 and needed labs. I was told to go to Baptist because typically they are wonderful with kids. Today was not the case at all! The gentleman who was gonna draw the blood was nice but the lady(Marcelena) who had to come help was not. She told my daughter that they don’t have time for her to cry. I think that is absolutely horrible bedside manners especially when you’re dealing with a kid. Brandon did an exceptional job drawing my toddler’s blood. His female colleague (couldn’t see her name tag but think it started with a M) was also wonderful and let him pick out a toy. A typically scary experience for a 2 year old was as seamless and smooth as possible. We drove from Jacksonville and will be back for any of our pediatric lab needs.
The worst lab I have been to in Clay County. Always takes the longest and they have no numbering system. Everyone waits in the lobby together and they just say ‘next patient’ which allows for any one to jump you in line. Even had to say “no we were here first” to one of these folks and the nurses did nothing one way or the other! Don’t come here!!
I went with my daughter to have blood taken from her 15 month old little girl. We ended up leaving & not doing it. The phlebotomist that saw us was extremely rude. She ignored our questions completely. She did not even speak to the baby or try to be friendly or make her comfortable. She didn’t explain anything to mom. She put the tourniquet on & then said she had to wait on a young man that was taking a lady in a wheelchair out to her car. Shhhhh! Don't tell anyone else about the Bastist Clay lab. It is spotless, uncrowded, efficient, the staff (Christina, thank you!) are wonderful, and I didn't even feel the phlebotomist's needle. And did I mention test results were on MyBaptistChaart the next day? Five stars!
