I visited LA Smiles based on a referral from my dentist to investigate a dark line along the gumline of one of my front crowns, which I've had for many years. I paid $350 out-of-pocket for a CBCT scan (not covered by insurance—mentioning this since others have noted it too). The scan revealed an infection in a root canal that needed treatment. I was referred by my dentist for a root canal. This lady is a con artist and why people don't go to the dentist. Unless you agree to paying hundreds of dollars for her CT scan that is not covered by insurance, she won't do your root canal. When I declined the scan because it is not covered by insurance, they tell me that my insurance is not that good and my past root canal is going to fail because it was not done from her CT scan. BS.
