My stay at the cabin was sublime! The cabin is a wonderful spot to gather with a few friends. We spent our days hiking and enjoying the beautiful mountains right outside the cabin door, after our hike the cabin was the perfect place to gather to talk, cook, play games, and enjoy the warmth of a wood fire.

I heard a lot about the San Juan mountains and had been wanting to visit for quite a while. When I got a chance to do so, I was so fortunate to be able to stay at La Plata Canyon Cabin. I couldn't have picked a more perfect place to stay. Smack dab in the middle of the mountains with trails just outside the front door. More trails further up the canyon that you can both hike and drive to. And if you like to gravel bike, you can do that starting from the cabin as well. This cabin is a wonderful place to stay at while visiting the Durango area. Slightly off the beaten path but worth it for the tremendous views and easy access to great hiking. The host was very accommodating and thoughtful. The cabin is very comfortable and fit all of our needs even while being off grid. I would highly recommend it.
Got past Boren Creek before hitting the Rocky part. Prius got me as far as i wanted.
