The food itself was wonderful. The service was lacking. It was our first visit in, we went through the line to order. Got to the first set of people in the cafeteria-style line and they said we only order from them for soups or salads. Ok, then. She said, you order at the register for anything else. Ordered and paid for a cake online 4 days ahead of time, put in a pick up time. Went to get it for that pick up time and they told me they were sold out. What’s the point of ordering online if it’s not set aside!? I could’ve come in the morning and picked it up if I knew that online ordering was pointless. The service in La Madeleine in Elmwood is the WORST! The tall, white lady serving the pastries and coffee treats you with zero empathy and kindness! Food is good though.
