Thank you, La Dolce Vita, for a wonderful experience. We came to your restaurant for a rehearsal dinner. My son and I have food allergies (milk, peanuts), and I called ahead of time to make sure there would be food that I could eat. Even when he needed to prepare a huge catering meal, Chef Ralph took the time to make a full meal for me, making sure there was no dairy in any of it- Calamari, Salad, Pasta with Marinara, Chicken Parmesan (minus parmesan), Italian Sausage, and he even made me as separate dessert. I can NEVER eat... read more
Disappointed – My wife and I went to dinner at La Dolce Vita in downtown Lemont Friday night, April 22, 2011. After a brief wait we were seated at a cramped high top table in the bar area; even the waitress commented we had a "special" table. From that point on, the service was extremely slow. We had to remind the waitress several times to bring items previously requested to the table. At one point we went to the bar to get our drinks that were never delivered. The food was of poor quality. The salad dressing tasted as if it... read more
Gift Certificate Robbery – Just purchased a gift certificate for $150 on Thursday and to my nice surprise when reviewing my online banking account they charged me $180. Still waiting on this to be resolved.
Great find – Great old building, nice atmosphere, excellent service with a group of 10. Appetizers were outstanding: calamari, goat cheese, and one more that escapes me. Veal dish was above average, served piping hot with an excellent sauce, peppers, onions, etc.... Wine list was solid, but not too flashy. They had the bottles we wanted. Tirimisu was a very tasty. I'd go back.
Want to be treated like dirt? – Yes, the food is good here, but there has to be more than just food. I am Italian and I keep saying that these people cannot possibly be real Italians. They are soooo unfriendly and cold. You cannot make reservations here. OK - I can deal with that, but how about customers that have been coming in a couple of times a week for a couple of years. Wouldn't you expect a little consideration - like -"We'll try to get you in a soon as possible" - no - it's more like they have never seen you in their... read more
Hidden gem – Ate there today and only wished we'd found it sooner. The ambiance was perfect, our server was attentive without being intrusive and the tilapia was the best fish I have ever eaten. Everything was just right, from the salad/bread to the flavorful marinara and both our entrees were out of this world. Unpretentious Italian cooking in just the right atmosphere.
