Met upstairs in a darkened office of an older house, littered with children’s leftover artwork as Kyle sat behind a plastic divider turning his face toward a computer screen as he recorded my words by keystroke. I wondered where those words went as I witnessed a book on forensic psychology resting on his shelf. For the few sessions we had, he offered only one piece of prosaic advice. I raised my issue and he answered me with a smile.

I always felt worse after seeing Kyle. He wouldn't listen to me. I was telling a story about getting a new job and he stopped me halfway through and interjected his opinion that I wouldn't make more money at a new job. Another time I was telling him about how I post factually true articles online and he basically said that everything I post is just my opinion. Doesn't seem to understand that facts are not opinions.
