Booked our Nissan Navara in for an analysis of poor fuel economy and blowing black smoke, as well as a noisy turbo, they found the actuator arm had become detached and noted our alternator as making a noise and on its way out! We have never had a noise in alternator nor a battery light come on, had just driven it to Adelaide and back no problem except the noise from turbo kicking in and blowing black smoke.
