Dr. Oelke gets things done! In one visit he took the time to hear about the onset of my symptoms, what my biggest concerns were currently, examined my knee, treated me, got labs and X-rays done. Closed my visit out with an explanation of my condition, his recommendations for me moving forward. He gave me plenty of chances to speak and ask questions while also helping me to stay on topic. He continues to practice misogynistic medical gaslighting - he profiles his patients and speaks over them. I have never been more thoroughly condescended than during this appointment. While being covertly accused of taking drugs and inventing my pain and clear connective tissue concerns, he consistently interrupted me and made snide remarks on my vocabulary -- insinuating that my entire auto-immune composition was essentially the result of "tight muscles" due to my PTSD. Absolutely top notch Dr. A specialist who actually cares about each and every patient. Changed my life.
Talk about disappointment. He implied that anxiety is the cause of my chronic pain and was skeptical of me being referred to a cardiologist for POTS even though my primary doctor gave me a poor man’s pots test that was positive. He said he wasn’t a specialist in HEDS/HSD but tried to tell me I don’t have HEDS despite not doing a beighton scale test which is required for diagnosis. Terrible! I was condescended to every time I opened my mouth to answer or ask a question. Upon entering the room the doctor sat in silence - no bedside talk to get to know each other at all - as he read why I was here to see him and then basically told me nothing was wrong with me and I was wasting his time, but making him rich by being there! I felt small, stupid and uneducated after being in his presence. If you are a man…maybe you are treated better by this guy, but as a woman???…read the above again and again.
