Great tour with New Tampa seniors Meetup group. What a great story about 4 generations of kumquat growers that keep re-inventing ways to market and sell kumquats. The adversity they face is daunting, the freezes, the citrus canker, the greening, root nematodes, FDA ruling's about sending leaves with kumquats for decoration. I bought a ten pound box-there's got to be hundreds of kumquats in such a box. Only found one with a tiny squishy part out of hundreds. That means that 99.9% are fresh & excellent condition!~ I highly recommend trying some-I'm from Indiana near Chicago-here,many don't know kumquats. They're versatile,nutritious, & cool. You can watch youtube videos to learn about them like I did.
They gave a nice tour and we got some great recipes using comquats.
The most delicious Kumquats.. We have ever tasted. Just the right balance of bitter, sweet & sour.
